Unlike most existing museums which are classified by main themes, children's museums can be seen as a new frontier of museums which are established focusing on children, specific users who understand the concept of matters using different methods than adults' and learn new facts. Taking children's developmental patterns and observational characteristics into account, children's museums consider play concept to be the key word and recent data shows high frequency of preschoolers' visitorship to children's museum. In order to cope with preschoolers' ever increasing growth of interest and physical development characteristics, demand for accompanying parents' help to facilitate children's understanding of the contents and experiencing the exhibited items is getting higher and higher, and special experience through play and satisfaction of the visitation can be doubled by the mutual interaction between children and their accompanying parents. However, contrary to our expectations, preceding research works on children's museum had a tendency of being confined to small areas lacking empirical factors and limited exhibitions and so there is still much room for more intensified research on museum's viewpoint of mutual interaction. In this paper, it is aimed at delving into the interaction between accompanying parents and their children by observing their behavioral patterns regarding them as important factors to boost viewing effect and satisfaction. Through this research, it is expected that a tool to analyze mutual interaction is developed and it can be used as the basic reference material for observing the area where mutual interaction can take place and experience exhibitions and can further be utilized for succeeding research works to study the correlation on mutual interactions and viewers' satisfaction as well. |
