As the building energy consumption is being elevated, a variety of methods to reduce the building energy have been suggested these days. Due to the increased usage of curtain-wall system, the solar penetration into the space has significantly increased, causing both visual and thermal discomfort. The shading device has been considered to be one of the effective ways to resolve the discomfort issues. This study investigated the heating and cooling load variations with regard to the blind location, operation and slat reflectance. The impact of the different glazing types was also investigated. EnergyPlus simulation model was verified against the mock-up measurement data and the parametric analysis was performed using the verified simulation model. The results show that the exterior blind turned out to reduce the annual heating and cooling load by 9%, which is larger than that of the interior blind. |
