The housing culture of Korea has grown quantitatively focused on apartments. As a result, human life has become uniform and residents have been severely alienated. In the face of such problems in the current housing culture, cohousing has been suggested as a means to increase the diversity of dwellings and spur community revitalization. The purpose of this study is to provide fundamental data for cohousing activation. For this, it was performed to classify the type of cohousing and analyze the characteristics according to the type of cohousing. The results showed that cohousing types have developed in various ways depending on residents' attributes, architectural characteristics, development characteristics, and the type of ownership and management. Each type has different characteristics with respect to both physical features and social elements related to community. Based on the results, development types for cohousing activation are proposed. First, for welfare housing, rental cohousing may be developed by public institutions for the specialized residents, such as the elderly. Second, as a special housing product, privately owned cohousing may be developed by estate development companies for a variety of residents. Finally, for community housing, jointly owned cohousing may be developed by residents |
