By considering the heat source supply system of the present district heating piping system (4-pipe system), we establish the design criteria of combined piping system (2-pipe system) mainly to simplify the piping lines of the 4-pipe district heating system. In addition, to increase efficiency of heat energy transfer by reducing the return temperature of district heating water, we suggest and develop the pre-heating system that uses returning floor heating water as a heat source. In order to verify the performance of the combined piping system, a series of tests were conducted based on Korean household pattern survey for heating and hot water use.
