Korean traditional classical music had been preserved even in the political and social confusions under the rule of Japanese imperialism and its fame has since been maintained by national gugak centers. Busan National Gugak Center (BNGC), which is the first national culture institute in Busan, has been constructed to develop and succeed to traditional culture in the Yeongnam province. In particular, Yejidang has been constructed to meet the requirements of Korean traditional classical music from the stage of design to hold various performances of Korean traditional classical music. However, with no clear criteria for acoustic performance established for a special theater for Korean traditional classical music, there are lots of difficulties in designing and constructing it. From this perspective, this study aimed to identify architectural acoustic characteristic through field measurements of Yejidang in BNGC. The data from this study are expected to be useful in designing and constructing a special theater for Korean traditional classical music. |
