This is because ideology helps in the interpretation of a given era and provides the necessary historical context. Moreover, a creative output in contemporary art necessarily follows an ideological exploration of the tradition it stems from. It is only when that study is complete that one can contribute meaningfully to a healthy accession to tradition, and cultural progress is made. This paper will summarize the focal points and design concepts of the aesthetics which appear in [The Beauty of Korean Architecture] and the principles of ideology behind them. I believe such an exploration will prove meaningful to progeny?us modern Koreans. The paper will also apply the explored concepts to a few of the historical architectures widely considered to be representative of Korea, and consider their methodologies. I believe understanding the grassroots ideals and beauty which Korean tradition pursued, as well as the basic strategies it employed to achieve them will provide the basis for a comprehensive understanding of the direction which Traditional Korean Beauty took.
