The most important space among spaces for human is arguably a living space, yet modern people spend much time and do a lot of activities inside 'working spaces.' Being into the 21st century, the concept of the working space as such is creating a new office culture in accordance with the rapid social environment change. The perception has been changed to the point that a working space is no longer believed just to be a room for work, and the work environment has been digitalized and mobilized as well owing to the working organization structures' becoming more horizontal. Firms are endeavoring on the clear understanding that creative ideas maximize the work efficiency and productivity. Hence, this study is to examine the characteristics of plane composition according to the chronological changes of circumstances with regard to the domestic working space, and is to consider the process of such transitions. The scope of this research is limited to the working spaces from the 1980s and thereafter to the recently-published working spaces, based on the judgment that we did not know modern working spaces before the 1980s that we experienced the economic growth. Modern business environment is turning organizations into more de-hierarchical and flexible ones as hierarchic relationship is being weakened, and is changing the network structures more horizontal and variable ones due to the emphasis on individual autonomy, and is also differentiating distributed satellite offices and outsourcing offices from centralized ones. It is anticipated that advanced domestic working spaces will continue to be designed thanks to companies' recognition of necessity that the creative thinking and the exchange of knowledge and information will increase productivity. I hope this study would help a series of research process as a basic study. |
