Open plan offices have a characteristic without walls. For that reason, it can disturb work efficiency by the noise causing from near workstation. It, also, can cause invasion of privacy. When degree of speech privacy is measured at such open plan offices, STI(Speech Transmission Index) and SII(Speech Intelligibility Index) have been often used. However, lately, new single number-quantity(D2,S, rD, LP,A,S,4m) was defined at ISO 3382-3. This study shows the measurement of speech privacy using ISO 3382-3 and STI in five general-shaped offices. Also, each of the offices is evaluated by applying acoustics classification suggested by Virjonen. As the result of measurement, new single number quantity is more suitable than STI for representing the whole speech privacy of each office, and according to Virjonen's suggestion, it showed that speech privacy ratings of D2,S, rD, LP,A,S,4m are all different respectively. |
