요약2	University Library is a space for not only accommodating academic activities but providing information and services. On top of this, we have witnessed that university libraries have turned themselves out to be cultural and mixed use facilities and being renovated or equipped with brand new buildings. Unlike the libraries in the past dominated by book storages and general reading spaces, the new libraries allocate more space to the digital and multi-media rooms, the group meeting rooms for discussion and cooperation among students and faculty, and individual reading spaces and study rooms. This study aims to figure out the trends of recent transformations in the new university libraries in terms of function and space. In this study, first, the literature relating new trends in contemporary university library is reviewed; secondly, the spatial composition of selected recently renovated or constructed university libraries are examined and compared. The results from this study can be a reference for indicating the future improvement directions of university libraries through renovation and new construction.
