Since 2010 Gunsan has tried to redefine the value of the modern heritages and has pushed forward Modern History-Culture Belt Project as an urban regeneration. The number of tourists and commercialization in the original downtown are rapidly increasing as a result of urban regeneration project for which the modern architectural assets were used such as former Gunsan Branch Office of the Bank of Joseon and the Bank of Nakasaki, Custom House etc. This study aims to point out several problems and propose the improvements concerning urban regeneration, by analyzing the change of urban landscape of original downtown. The commercialization of main streets is the detailed scope of this study. In order to deduce a conclusion, the former researches should be reviewed, the various statistic data streets’ view will be analyzed and gentrification will be also investigated through focused group interview and poll survey.
