Early Western Architectures in Cheongju, the 133th tangible cultural property of Chungcheongbuk-do, has a very important architectural and cultural value, since in terms of the history of architecture, it represents the architecture style of the transition period of South Korean architecture, which shows the change from the traditional architecture to the modern architecture. The 6 buildings of Early Western Architectures in Cheongju, which have different floor plans from those of our traditional architecture, were classified according to the use: Missionary house, hospital, and bible school. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the floor plans by use of these buildings. The characteristic of the floor plans are compared in terms of the number of rooms of each floor, the characters of each room, the size of each floor, the height/width of stairs, and the height of each floor. However, it was hard to conduct further research due to the tight security of the owner of the 1st building, so that other researches besides the research through the floor plan were excluded. |
