This study is occurring demand in various layers of public institutions to community service center, modern function and traditional space are combined to examine in details as one of the purpose of this study. Therefore, since a community center needs functional and spatial requirement, this research scope is limited to a high fidelity criteria which are community service center in Hyehwa-dong and Unyang-dong. Through the comparison between these cases, the establishment of Hanok-style community center would be possible whilst maintain the tradition and fulfill their role as community center at the same time. After collecting the theoretical study about the local community center, this study will be conducted based on the field investigation and staff interview in Hyehwa-dong and Unyang-dong community service center. As this study is about utilization and suitability for modern function of traditional Hanok-style building, the characteristics are divided into functional and traditional perspective, the contents are as follows. First, from the perspective of the local community center, regional symbol and utilization aspects are found to be positively affect both cases. Second, from the perspective of tradition, physical and emotional characteristic aspects are found to be negatively affect both cases. Third, from the aspects of workspace convenience, there are some parts which negatively affects both cases. Although the subject of this research has been limited to Hyehwa-dong and Unyang-dong community service center, this research also considered as the first step towards conducting a various study on the Hanok-style community service center, hopefully this study can give an abundant guide to the actual establish of Hanok-style community service center in the future. |
