Thanks to the advances in living environments and medical technologies, the senior citizens are arriving at senescence in better health than before, and their social sphere which becomes the center of the silver industry in the aging society constitutes the large part of the social and economic domains. However, the architectural spaces built with the consideration of their social and psychological aspects can be hardly found. Furthermore, the senior citizens pursuing the active life can lead their happy lives by sustaining social and economic activities within their living territories other than big cities, but the active senior living in the big cities cannot take advantage of using the architectural spaces designed for them due to the limitation in securing the required lands. Hereupon, with the application of Life Care Design theory (L.C.D.), this study has conducted researches into the environmental and psychological elements and the spatial factors required for the cultural complex so designed that the active senior can continue the social and economic activities within their living territories. The in-depth analyses on domestic and overseas cases show that the domestic cases, compared with the overseas, belong to narrowly-defined cultural complex only to share the limited spaces. In summary, since the new complex spaces jointly used for the regional community and the active senior become in stronger demand for this aging era, further more studies should be undertaken. |
