The renewable energy of a small hydro power plant (SHP) can contribute to the reduction of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the slowdown of the global warming caused by the generation of electric power. It is well-known that the SHP plant shows not only the highest greening performance but also lowest running cost. However, SHP requires high initial cost for the construction of the dam and the generation system. The aim of this research is to conduct the economic evaluation (cost benefit analysis) of SHP with generation data from 6 existing SHP plants (Sangju dam, Nakdan dam, Gumi dam, Chilgok dam, Gangjung-goryung dam, Dalsun dam) in Nakdong River. The paper includes the calculation of the LCC45 (life cycle cost 45 years) of SHP and the sensitivity analysis performed with 6 factors such as inflation rate, energy cost increasing rate, interest increasing rate, generation efficiency of SHP, carbon trade price and operation cost rate. In conclusion, the average NPV (net present value) of each SHP was 84.25 billion won. According to the sensitivity analysis, the NPV is zero with the inflation rate of approximately 11%, approximately 123.06 billion won with interest rate of 2%, approximately 29.50 billion won with when the generation efficiency is 30%. In this research the SHP in Nakdong River shows the high economic performance. |
