For this purpose, 14 Jeju townhouse cases built before or proposed after 2014 were scrutinized to find out current problems commonly disclosed. The notable shortcomings were summarized as follows: the lack of 'guesthouse' concept, poor guidelines for community space planning, inadequate establishment of communal estate management system and finally the lack of versatile plan to accommodate various types of resident groups. At the end, it is suggested to establish 1) institutional criteria for promoting the desirable townhouse development in Jeju and 2) short-term rotating tenancy system enabling residents to move easily to another tenancy of their favorite area.
