Loess soil called hwang-toh is used for a long time in traditional building construction field. But, now it is not widely used because loess is not good for waterproof resistance than the other modern constructional materials. The purpose of this study is to develop a waterproof agent matched with the characteristics of the soil and suggest the type of natural waterproof agents using animal fat oil and vegetable oil, and compared with the conventional chemical resin sealants. In the test, it uses 4 types test subjects which are natural loess blocks and compared with 4 waterproof agents. Four agents are Gasari 63, the vegetable oil like soybean oil, animal fat oil like beef tallow, and the mixed oil made by the vegetable oil and animal fat oil. The result of this experimental research is as follows. 1) Three natural waterproof agents which made by the soybean oil, beef tallow and the mixed oil are effective for waterproof. 2) The waterproof performance of the surface of the loess block is appeared the mixed oil is the best. And, the animal fat oil, and the vegetable oil and Gasari 63 oil in the order of performance. 3) The ability of inner resistance of waterproof about the natural loess block until the internal collapse is the natural mixed oil, the animal fat oil, the vegetable oil repellant as a sequence, and each natural waterproof agent is superior to Gasari 63 oil. 4) If it will be fine weather for a while, the performance of waterproof about loess blocks which are painted three natural waterproof agents turns out to recover a little. I expect that this research will be a starting point of a natural waterproof agent using loess and natural materials like hwang-toh block, and also it is a large implication. |
