As patterns of national life have been diversifying and becoming productive by the rapid economic growth, the perspective of culture and leisure is radically changed. So, there have been an increased interest in various cultural and leisure life, especially in the ecology of ocean since 1990’s, but an infrastructure in terms of the ocean ecology absolutely lacks in Korea. Aquarium, which is the most widely used indirect ocean experience facility already in the advanced countries among various facilities related to the ocean ecology, has been increased in Korea since the early 2000’s, but there is few research about it. Thus, we are having a hard time investigating data and analyzing. The preceding research is also not satisfactory in studying a program about a facility except for an exhibition area. Therefore, this research has a great significance to suggest a direction of a plan through the analysis of domestic and foreign Aquarium facilities and areas to provide a space program possible to be a base data about the plan to construct Aquarium and to make an indicator to form the basis of it. The research identifies a history and development of Aquarium through the theoretical consideration, understands a function and use of Aquarium based on the literature and current law required for the plan, and draws a basis data of a space program based on the analyzed data, such as the area of Aquarium, the organization of space, and area-ratio per a facility through a case investigation by setting up a criteria about the total area and a capacity of a water tank in Aquarium internally and externally constructed from 1990’s to 2000’s |
