Therefore, dwelling environment that can support the aged engaged in farming to live more safely, independently, and conveniently is becoming more and more important. The latest research on rural houses’ insulation is mainly focused on remodeling, diagnosing the degree of deterioration, improving their spatial structure, or enhancing their airtight insulation performance by using high-performing insulators or construction methods. There is not much research on rural environment or the dwellers and particularly the insulation, so it is needed to make efforts to improve rural houses’ insulation. As a preliminary research to improve rural houses’ insulation, this study divided areas into three regions, the central region, southern region, and Jeju Island, and conducted field investigation on total 18 houses, six from each town selected from those regions in order to figure out the current status of rural houses and also the characteristics of those buildings. |
