The purpose of the study is to reconsider the abandoned Naksan quarry in Changsindong as ground for a cradle of another culture, and to propose an architectural design reflecting the growing multi-cultural neighborhood as the interdependent global Collaborative Commons. The main argument is focused on how to create a multi-cultural community accommodating complex programs for daily life including commerce, residence, production, assembly, education, and etc., how to provide the new and old communities with an opportunity to conceive a new cultural practice, and how to design cultural complex by reinterpreting the historical ecology in repetitive recurrence. The design result will exhibit the ways to transform the ecology in sustainable return of history into today's complex multi-cultural place. |
