Environmental pollution is coming to the fore as our continuous issue, which is being solved through the re-use of superannuated public facilities and abandoned facilities Regeneration means in various methods is being researched and promoted, and one of the methods is to apply artistry. The interest in artistry and design is growing, and its consequential re-use of space is being promoted successfully, but actually, when it comes to the welfare and support for artists, it's still in a poor situation. Notably, the average life expectancy in Korea has been extended for reasons of the decrease in childbirth population, and development of medical science and bio-technology, etc. and due to its consequential rapid change in population, Korea has come to enter the aging era; accordingly, senior citizens' social adaptation is eliminated due to the failure to catch up the speed, and such an aspect is emerging as social problems such as depression, social alienation, and absence of communication, etc. The aging of an artist, for whom an institutional guarantee is socially low, is exposed to a poorer situation in comparison with the present society-aiming artistic concern. Hereupon, this study aims at doing research on a complex community space for aging artists' relaxation and healing, information sharing & social exchange, exhibitions using works in their possession, support of profit-making activities, and further extension up to a culture & experience center for senior artists who are to launch a new life by planning a complex community center for senior artists in an effort to resolve the problems faced by an alienated artist in the aging era, together with ever rising interest in art value. |
