Due to the heat island effect in high density urban area, temperature within the city has increased as well as the building energy consumption, thus, a green roof system as an alternative was suggested. In Seoul Metropolitan City was selected as a case to evaluate the benefits of the green roof system and the evaluation method was divided by its durability and self-regulation system. However, despite of its benefits, the green roof system is not yet done at a large scale. Therefore, by addressing the main cause of the previous problems first, this paper analyzed and solved the problems then suggested three plans such as the improvement of the public awareness and participation, the support of central government, and lastly deployment of the legal system. |
