The objective of this study is to investigate the applicability of window add-in type double skin facade to save building cooling energy. In this study, double skin facade (DSF) is treated like intermediate blind and to apply this DSF to windows of existing building, additional frame and window is added. And in the cavity of DSF, venetian blind is installed to role as shading device. To estimate the applicability of the suggesting system, the comparison study with internal blind, external blind and normal DSF system. In comparison analysis, the inflow of heat is the smallest when using normal DSF, following suggesting DSF system, external blind, and internal blind. This result that inflow heat of suggested DSF system is larger than normal DSF system is occurred because the additional heat flow is income through additional frame of suggested DSF system. But, considering the extra cost for installation, suggested DSF system may seems to have good applicability to existing building. |
