An analytic and understanding process of the architect's works from the fundamental thinking on the architectural concept as well as its realization process thoroughly, is really important for improving the study posture on architecture as well as the design ability. Tadao Ando was influenced by Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn and attempted a architecture of both japanese traditionality and rational modernism from early works. To Ando architecture begins from a house architecture, so his architecture of house shows his architectural thinking and concentration admirably. This research aims to clarify spatial organization and characteristics of Ando's house architecture by selecting the representative house works which reflect his meaning and thinking on his house architecture successfully, through collecting and analysing data on them. The subjects of research are Sumiyoshi-Azuma House(1975-76), Koshino House (1979-81,1983-84), Kidosaki House(1982-85), I House(1985-86), and Lee House (1991-92). The methods of research are as bellow. 1)Examining the meaning of Ando's house architecture as well as his thinking on it. 2)Analysing spatial organization, form, circulation as well as spatial element for expression, 3)Making a detailed analyse on each house example. 4)Presenting the inherent characteristics of Ando's house architecture as the results of this study. |
