Baby boomers are gradually becoming eligible to use senior welfare centers. They exhibit a different lifestyle in comparison to those of the elderly in the past. The purpose of this study is to examine the lifestyle of baby boomers and propose a space and program of senior welfare centers suitable for their lifestyle. For the study, a survey on preference for space in senior welfare centers among baby boomers living in Seoul. As a research method, first, previous research was reviewed to define the concept and characteristics of the subjects and establish the research instrument. Later, by using the instrument, a survey was conducted and the result was classified into different clusters based on factor analysis and cluster analysis. According to the result, the lifestyles of baby boomers were classified into five clusters and characteristics of each cluster were identified. Significant differences between the clusters were found according to the gender, income level, occupation, and place of residence. Considering the difference in preference of space and program in senior welfare centers between different clusters, local senior welfare centers will need to apply space and program according to the lifestyle of the users. The factors that contribute most to satisfaction with interior space were identical among different clusters: refreshing environment, functional convenience, safety, social exchange, and design in the order. |
