The large majority of empty houses in seoul are apartment units and 30.4% of them are built within five years which includes unsold stock. Most of the empty single houses were built more than 35 years ago. For the occurrence reason and house types of empty houses differed according to their regional locations, management strategies should reflect their regional characteristics. A realistic database of empty houses should be built based on site survey or use of water or gas.
