공간을 구성하는 다양한 오브제들 가운데 의자디자인은 공간의 크기와 형태, 사용자의 특성에 많은 영향을 받게 된다. 공간 안에 놓인 의자는 사용자에게 행위를 일으키거나 사용자로 하여금 영향을 받기도 하며 이를 통해 다양한 소통이 일어난다. 즉, 의자는 공간을 구성하는 중요한 핵심 요소이며, 오브제로서 인간과 공간 사이에서 상호연관성의 매개체 역할을 한다. 따라서 의자디자인을 공간디자인 입장에서 조망하는 것은 충분히 의의가 있다고 판단된다. (연구방법) 본 연구에서는 수 없이 많은 다양한 의자 가운데 덴마크 출신 디자이너 아르네 야콥센과 베르너 팬톤의 의자디자인을 분석하고 공간의 오브제적 관점으로 의자디자인을 분석하고자 한다. 먼저 이론적 고찰로 공간과 오브제의 관계에 대한 개념적 정리와 덴마크 현대 디자인의 발달 배경과 특성을 고찰하였다. 다음으로는 아르네 야콥센과 베르너 팬톤의 의자디자인 총 8개의 작품을 통해 특성을 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 두 거장의 의자디자인 특성을 형태, 재료 및 마감, 공간에서의 기능으로 구분하여 분석하고 결론을 도출하였다. (결과) 아르네 야콥센과 베르너 팬톤의 의자디자인을 공간의 오브제적 관점으로 분석한 결과 먼저 아르네 야콥센의 의자디자인은 유기적 형태를 은유적으로 표현하였고, 불필요한 장식을 철저히 배재한 단순성을 추구하였다. 등받이와 좌판이 일체가 된 통일된 몸체로서 유연하고 유머러스한 조형성을 추구하였다. 재료 및 마감에는 성형합판기법의 새로운 기술 접목과 생산공정과 재료의 최소성을 추구하였다. 공간에서의 기능으로는 가볍고 쌓아서 보관이 가능한 스태킹 기능으로 수월한 이동과 공간을 최소화 하였고, 몸을 감싸는 형태로 개인적인 공간을 형성해 안락감을 제공하였다. 또한 다양한 형태로 변형이 가능하여 공간의 필요성에 따라 다양하게 사용할 수 있다. 베르너 팬톤의 의자디자인은 팝아트적인 성향으로 추상적인 곡선과 역동적인 형태를 추구하였다. 재료 및 마감에는 목재보다는 합성수지나 금속 등 신소재를 이용한 실험으로 다양한 재료를 사용하였고, 채도가 높은 원색을 선호 하였다. 공간에서의 기능으로는 자세와 위치에 다양한 선택권과 변수를 제공하고 공간과 의자의 경계를 모호하게 하였다. 또한 가볍고 실용적인 디자인을 추구하였다. (결론) 이상으로 공간적 오브제로서 의자디자인에 대하여 작품 사례를 분석하고 이에 따른 공간에서의 기능에 관하여 고찰하였다. 공간적 오브제로서 의자는 공간의 목적에 맞는 장치적 요소로 사용자의 적극적인 참여를 유도하고 기능적이면서 심리적인 오브제임을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 하여 향후 공간과 의자디자인,인간행태와의 상호연관성에 관한 연구에 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대한다. |

Among various objets, chair design is influenced by spatial size, shape and characteristics of consumers. Chair in the space is usually affected by consumers, and sometimes it causes their behaviors; through these, various communication happens. In other words, chair is an essential factor that composes space, and it plays a medium between human and space as objet. Therefore, prospecting chair design in stance of space design is worthy enough to implement. (Research Method) In this research, we try to analysis chair design of Arne Emil Jacobsen and Verner Panton in aspect of space objet among numerous sorts of chairs. First of all, we considered traits and developed background of modern design in Demark and arranged concepts about relationship between space and objet as theoretical contemplation. For the next, we looked into traits through 8 pieces of chair design arts of Arne Emil Jacobsen and Verner Panton. Finally, we analyzed and classified traits of chair design of two maestros by their functions of shape, material, end and space, and we drew a conclusion. (Result) As chair design of Arne Emil Jacobsen and Verner Panton was analyzed in aspect of space objet, chair design of Arne Emil Jacobsen expressed organic forms in metaphorical way, and pursued simplicity to the exclusion of unnecessary decorations. Additionally, it pursued humorous and flexible formativeness as an united body forming back and seat together. For materials and end, minimizing materials, production process, and integrating new technology of plywood molding method were pursued. For spatial function, stacking functions which are light and able to store helped to get comfortable movement and minimize space, and it offered comfort by shaping personal space wrapping people's body. Additionally, it could be transformed in various shape, and it made us to use it in multiple ways according to necessity of space. Chair design of Verner Panton pursued dynamic shapes and abstract curves following tendency of pop arts. They used various materials such as synthetic resins and metal rather than timber which were found by experiments using new materials, and prefer primary color with high chroma. For spatial functions, they offered various options and variables to positions and locations, and made a border between space and chair ambiguous. Also, they pursued light and practical design. (Conclusion) Finally, we contemplated functions in space, and analyzed examples or arts relevant to chair design as space objet. As space objet, we could figure out chair was a device factor which were fitting on aim of space, and it induced users to participate, and it was functionally and physically objet. In the future, we hopefully expect that this article can be used as a baseline data for research about space, chair, and compatibility between space and human's behaviour based on this result. |
