현대건축에서 내·외부 공간은 더 이상 이항대립적인 관계가 아닌 상대성이 두드러진 관계적 양상을 보이고 있다. 본 연구는 문헌조사를 통해 건축의 내·외부 공간 경계의 모호성과 투명성 개념을 건축 공간 다의성 인식의 기제로 파악한다. 건축의 내외부 공간 경계의 모호성은: (1) 내외부 공간의 전치; (2) 겹 공간의 도입; (3) 연속적 공간에 의해 발생한다. 내 외부 공간은 인간의 움직임이나 지각에 의해 인식되는 공간 개념이다. 이러한 관점에서 보면 경계그 자체가 모호해졌기 때문에, 건축의 공간을 물리적 경계에 따라 구분하는 것은 의미가 없다. 오히려 공간의 개념은 명확함을 내포하는 개념에서 모호성에 이르기까지 그 의미가 다양하게 확대되었다. 내외부 공간의 지각은 투과와 반사에 의해 생성된 내부와 외부의 중첩 이미지에 의해 모호해진다. 결과적으로, 투과와 반사에 의해 중첩된 이미지는 관찰자에게 건축공간의 다의성을 경험하게 한다. |

The connection between internal space and external space in contemporary architecture noticeably shows relational aspects, not binary oppositions. This study, conducting a literature review, argues that the ambiguity of spatial(internal-external) boundary and transparency trigger the mechanism of spatial polysemy in architecture. The ambiguity of spatial boundary in architecture occurs in: (1) disposition of spatial relationships between internal space and external space; (2) introduction of double space; and (3) continual space. The cognition of internal and external space stems from human movement and perception. With this view, the boundary itself in contemporary architecture becomes ambiguous. The demarcation of architectural space by physical boundary is not appropriate. Rather, it shows transformation of the concept from obvious to equivocal meanings. The perception of internal and external space is unclear due to ambiguous images on skin superimposed by penetration and reflection. Consequently, it generates the spatial polysemy by boundary ambiguity and transparency, when an observer experiences internal space and external space. |
