(연구배경 및 목적)도심내의 대형 경기장은 많은 면적의 외부 공간을 사용하고 있으나, 사용되는 날은 극히 미비하고, 대형 경기장의 상징성과 유지관리의 효율성만을 위한 계획으로 인해 도시의 중요 공공공간으로의 활용성이 떨어지고 있다. 이에 따라 이러한 외부 유휴공간의 공공성 강화 필요성이 대두되었다. (연구방법)이에 본 연구에서는 대형 경기장과 유휴공간의 이론적 고찰과 외부공간 공공성에 대한 정의를 통해 공공성의 평가 지표를 추출하여 서울시 대형 경기장에 대하여 평가 지표를 적용 분석하였다. (결과)연구결과 대형 경기장의 외부 유휴공간을 위해 접근성, 개방성, 쾌적성, 및 기존 도시와의 연계성 강화를 통해 체류성을 높여, 공공성의 회복을 통해 도심 광장 과 같은 커뮤니티 장소로써 활성화를 이루는 것이 중요하다. 또한 향후 도심 대형 경기장을 신축할 시 인근 상업시설 주민들과의 지속적인 협의를 통한 공론의 장을 마련할 수 있는 방안도 고려해야할 것이다. |

(Background and Purpose)Mega sports complexes, which occupy tremendously big spaces in the city, lose their efficiency as public spaces, not only because they are seldom used for sports games but also because from the beginning, their main function is to maintain the symbolic value of a stadium and the efficiency of managing such as complex. Therefore, intensifying the public use of these under used outdoor spaces is an urgent matter. (Method) This article makes a theoretical consideration of a mega sports complex and its under used space. It then makes an appraisal index of public use, along with a definition of the public use of a mega sports complex. Lastly, it applies the index analytically to the mega sports complex. (Result)The activation of mega sports complexes as part of the urban community, like urban squares, is crucial, as is recovering their value to the public by increasing their usability. This can be achieved by improving their accessibility, openness, amenities, and connectivity with the city. In addition, when a city is in plans to build a mega sports complex, it should consider gathering public opinion by consulting the residents of the nearby commercial area. |
