(Background and Purpose) This study examines the present condition of children's space in mixed-use shopping malls, and seeks to analyze experiential characteristics through case studies. Ultimately, we intend to construct a basic database by deriving the tangible and intangible current trends in the compound. (Method) The research method encompasses the following: first, we analyze the concept and introduction of children's space within a commercial one through review of the literature. Second, we extract the common keyword for analyzing children's experiences through their behavior that is based on reviewing experience factors of Pine & Gilmore and Schmitt. Finally, the case study is executed by analyzing the status of children's spatial space and the characteristics of the physical environment and experiential contents of play space. (Results) The result of the case study is as follows: first, except for indoor and outdoor free playgrounds in case A, all of the space zone of case A and B are operated as paid facilities. Much of the space was based on the similar content, such as art, physical education, and blocks, but consisted of very diverse programs. However, amenities are limited to the infant lactation room (infant resting room) and the stroller rental desk. Second, the children's play rooms are concentrated in the particular floor of shopping mall. Most of the stores adjacent to children's play space are utilized for either sales, fashion goods targeting the kids and parents, or for food and beverage areas where parents can rest while their child is playing. Next, the degree of experience in the play space reflects how the level of the experimental element is not significantly different. However, when compared to case A to B, the level of cognition and impulsiveness experience factors of case A is slightly lower, but level of aesthetic experience factor is relatively high. (Conclusions) Children's play spaces should play a tactical role as a key tenant that attracts shoppers in the first place. Moreover, the stores that can share the target or cause links should be located near the children's space. Also, the need for expansion of physical space and program for the free play space, and diversification of convenience facilities are needed. In addition, it should emphasize differentiation by introducing various color and artistic elements in shared spaces that can stimulate children's creativity. Finally, for the sale of the product, as the positive perception of the product through direct experience can lead to continuous product sales and consumption, the store should be configured to fulfill the role of the place where experience marketing is realized as experience the products. |
