(Background and Purpose) When you hear on the mainstream media about natural disasters, a public suicide, and other calamities in daily life, you can feel shocked, lose time, and experience illness and stress. The stress level can be higher if you are a close relative or a direct family member or in an intimate relationship with the deceased. It will take time to escape the stress and see a difference in daily life. A loss of consciousness can increase the risk of suicide. A deep sadness can lead to depression, and people in such cases rarely seek a specialist to receive counseling and care. There is an interaction between people and the environment. The opposite of death is a "living," dynamic natural environment. The purpose of this study is to examine and present the factors of natural healing through interactions with the environment. (Method) This was a theoretical study to investigate natural healing from the environment from a biophilic perspective. Foreign and domestic cases were selected based on the public and private healing provided by memorials, cemeteries, and other memorial spaces for the families and friends of innocent victims who lost their lives in individual, public, or social calamities. From previous research, biophilic design attributes were derived by applying healing environmental factors to memorial spaces. Healing factors such as environmental, physical, and psychological aspects were studied to determine the connection between the environment and the human body. (Results) In this study, the relationship between the natural environment and the human body regarding the regulation of stress was analyzed. As a result, happiness was found in natural ecosystems. Walking and other forms of exercise in natural and visually stimulating environments are understood to activate the brain through the repeated contraction and relaxation of the body. From a cognitive psychological perspective, prone protein nerves are generated when the nerve is activated due to the recollection of positive memories and concentration on a positive state of consciousness. The property of repeated nerve changes and reconstruction is referred to as neuroplasticity. Constantly rebuilding with positive thoughts can lead to internal health that can be self-regulated even while individuals are subjected to extreme stress. (Conclusion) In this study, a biophilic design is applied to memorials for the deceased to see and concentrate on the cyclical growth of nature. There is a need for deeper research on the cognition of memorial spaces and the environmental properties of healing that govern stress. |
