With the recent rapid aging process and the retirement of baby boomers, there has been a growing interest in housing stability and measures to cope with the aging population. Meanwhile, as the Echo generation is emerging as the main consumer of society, the lifestyle of the Echo generation, which values more people than the Baby Boom generation, is rapidly expanding. In response, the study seeks to compare the housing values of the baby boomers and the Echo generation and provide basic data on where future housing product development, housing market and government policies should actually consider the housing that consumers want. The study conducted a survey of baby boomers and echoes in the metropolitan area from July 25, 2018 to August 3, using 124 copies as analysis data. The analysis method used the SPSS v.24 program to perform factor analysis, t-test, and reliability verification using frequency, percentage, and Varimax rotation methods. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Six types of housing values were extracted from the survey and named as community-seeking, show-off, technology-seeking, trend-seeking, location-seeking, and change-seeking. 2) The housing values between the two generations showed a significant difference: Baby boomers were more likely to seek community and show off, while Echo generation was more likely to seek technology and location. 3) No significant difference between generations, but the preference for functional spatial separation of bathrooms and open kitchens facing living rooms is shown to be significantly higher for both generations, so future housing plans may require changes in the bathroom and kitchen design. |
